UK Apology for Forced Adoptions


The UK government has formally apologized for the forced adoption of an estimated 185,000 babies from young, unmarried mothers in England and Wales during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Sir Keir Starmer described the episode as "a stain on our history" that affected "tens of thousands of mothers, children and families".
